Japan Airlines selects MKS Integrity for software configuration management

MKS, which is engaged in software application management, has announced that Japan Airlines International has selected MKS Integrity for software configuration management for its fleet of Boeing 787 aircraft.

According to MKS, Japan Airlines International's (JAL's) implementation of MKS Integrity, an enterprise application lifecycle management platform, will enable secure process-based control of changes to software which is embedded on board the Boeing 787's.

Yutaka Takeuchi, staff director of engineering and maintenance at JAL, said: We evaluated technology solutions that would enable JAL to efficiently and securely cater to the Boeing recommended change processes for software on board the 787, and also cater to our workflows and systems landscape.

MKS Integrity was selected after a detailed workshop involving JAL technical staff and maintenance team, together with MKS engineers in Tokyo showed that MKS Integrity catered fully to all aspects of the requirement and that the flexibility of the MKS Integrity-based solution enables us to evolve forward at a lower cost than an in-house solution would have been.

David Jones, managing director of MKS in Asia Pacific, said: Our engineers in Japan worked closely with JAL in Tokyo and Boeing in Seattle, to position us with full knowledge of the target requirement. That knowledge, together with engineering skill and the flexibility of MKS Integrity enabled us to shape the solution exactly to fit the JAL requirements.
