To modernise the delivery of government services, and strengthen the communication and security infrastructure for the Yesser eGovernment programme
IBM has completed the deployment of eGovernment Service Bus (GSB) project for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which claims to modernise the delivery of government services.
According to IBM, the project delivers the core communication and security infrastructure for the Yesser eGovernment programme. This programme is expected to provide people with online access to government services.
According to the company, the new project delivers service bus infrastructure which enables eGovernment transformation process and establishes a unified identity management system providing secure single sign-on access for individuals and enterprises to eGovernment services. It also delivers shared and core services necessary for the generation of eServices.
The project claims to support a staged roll-out of nearly a thousand government processes that are currently delivered manually.
The solution includes key elements from different divisions of IBM, including software, hardware, services and research, with POWER System and System x servers, and DataPower devices hosting IBM SOA middleware products at eight geographically distributed sites in the Kingdom.
Steve Mills, senior vice president and group executive of IBM software group, said: This project is significant because of its scope and what it will deliver to the Saudi people, simplifying their dealings with government agencies and increasing overall efficiency. This is among the best uses of technology, and it underscores IBM's commitment to helping the Saudi eGovernment Program realise its vision of smarter government.
