Fujitsu completes Home Office SBS ERP Oracle implementation

Projected programme savings are estimated to be between £40m and £50m

Fujitsu, working with the Home Office, has completed the final phase of the Home Office Shared business service (SBS) enterprise resource planning (ERP) Oracle implementation, which was implemented over phased approaches during a three year period and the final phase was delivered on budget of £13m. Projected programme savings are estimated to be between £40m and £50m.

Fujitsu said that Home Office appointed the company as its IT implementation partner in October 2000, to provide IT infrastructure, telephony and support services for it 25,000 users. During 2003, the Home Office implemented the first integrated enterprise resource planning (ERP) system in central government, covering finance, procurement and human resources (HR).

According to Fujitsu, the benefits of SBS include reduced costs; enhanced productivity that provides a better quality of service and more functionality; optimise performance; and enhanced management that provides operational information to support enhanced decision-making.
