CBR Staff Writer Published 31 January 2013

Combines Greenplum partner business intelligence, ETL, and analytics applications into a single platform.

EMC has launched the Greenplum Data Computing Appliance (DCA) Unified Analytics Platform (UAP) edition for Big Data analytics.

The platform combines the Greenplum Databases, Greenplum HD, ETL, and analytics applications within a single system to increase its analytic capabilities.

The new platform claims to offer a 70% increase in performance as well as flexibility of exploiting MPP database and Hadoop Distribution.

EMC's Greenplum products vice president, Josh Klahr, said that customers can take advantage of the new DCA to increase the performance of Greenplum Database for best-in-class SQL processing and data loading.

"With the release of the DCA Unified Analytics Platform Edition, we are continuing our history of innovation -- with improved options for Hadoop deployments leveraging EMC Isilon's scale-out NAS storage, enhanced partner ecosystem support including such partners as SAS and Informatica," Klahr added.

The new DCA offers services including the massively parallel processing (MPP) architecture, HDFS triple-redundant storage on direct-attach devices and integration with EMC Isilon Scale-out NAS, to provide HDFS storage.

It also offers data protection using revcovery and replication, snapshots, mirroring and back up, while Isilon simplifies data loading and permits independent scaling of computing and storage resources, the company said.
